For an important meeting - with confidence! (01.07.2020)

Do you have a fateful meeting, a meeting or a speech coming up? If the very thought of such an event causes tremors and a lump rises in your throat, the following algorithm of actions will help:

1. Expectations. Start by analyzing the upcoming event and do it with a pen in hand. That is, write down where the dialogue or conversation will take place, who will be there. Perhaps it is worth learning more about your future interlocutors, their hobbies, preferences, strengths? Write down what, in your opinion, your interlocutors expect from you, and what do you want to get as a result of communicating with them? Write down the expected result. Then visualize it, that is, mentally imagine how your interlocutor tells you about it.

2. Preparing your appearance . People always judge you by your clothes, and you are no exception. After all, your appearance is the first thing that catches the eye of your interlocutor. And you should also feel comfortable in the suit or dress you choose. Their style or features should not distract you from the purpose of your meeting. Comfort and appropriateness are the main criteria for choosing clothes and shoes. Tight-fitting silhouettes should be avoided, as well as large necklines, so as not to worry about how you look from one angle or another. Think about accessories, a suitable bag, jewelry. So that thoughts about appearance do not interfere during the meeting, do not "run away" from the topic of conversation, prepare everything in advance. Do several fittings, take pictures of yourself. Evaluate. Or ask a friend with good taste to choose the best outfit from a photo.

3. Focus on the outcome . Of course, you expect a positive result from the meeting. And yet, we must be realistic. Think about what is the worst that can happen during the conversation or in the end? Will you not be hired, will the project be rejected? Imagine the most unpleasant outcome of the meeting for you and think about your further actions. What are the alternative options for achieving the goal, are there any backup paths? Surely, more than one! Having thought about them in advance, you can feel confident during the negotiations, calmly and with dignity perceive even a negative summary of the meeting.

So, simple but effective preparation for the meeting will give you English calm and persuasiveness. And success comes to self-confident people!
